Artist's Comments

This is obviously a riff on Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss," which is one of my favorite paintings. I discovered artists like Klimt and Egon Scheile by watching cartoons like "Aeon Flux" and "Reign: the Conqueror." When I found out Peter Chung (the mastermind behind those toons) was heavily influenced by German Expressionism, I looked into those artists and discovered some new favorites--which is why the peice has "3.0" in the title.

I have a bunch of paintings and stuff that I haven't scanned. I was showing at a gallery for a little while, but that relationship kinda went sour, so I haven't been producing as much artsy-fartsy lately.

It was a really small gallery, and I still have stuff hanging there. My stuff just wasn't selling, so they asked me to do a few jazz paintings to cater to the clientelle (I like jazz and blues, so it wasn't a big deal), but those didn't sell either. I did a few more paintings for specific shows they were having, and those didn't sell either. So all of the custom paintings I did are sitting in a closet at the gallery, and the few paintings they still have up are in dark corners and such. That's just the way it works out sometimes, y'know? Oh well.
